YUSTE SPEAKS OUT ON XAVI’S DECISION TO STAY AT BARCELONA

Barcelona vice-president Rafa Yuste has spoken out after news emerged that Xavi has decided he will stay at the club for another season.

Xavi has done a U-turn on his decision and is now expected to see out his contract that runs until 2025.

Yuste says he’s delighted that the former midfielder will continue for another year and that he believes Xavi wants to continue what he’s started at Barca.

“Xavi wants to develop his project that is being forged with the young people who are coming up. I am very happy about its continuity,” he told Jijantes.

“Deco trusts Xavi 100%. This season I am left with the enthusiasm that we have awakened in the culer fans.

“Losing must have consequences, yes, but with nuances. We have competed and the game has been improved.

“With Xavi there is friendship and we are culers. We want to make history again, and we will. This project continues, above all, with people from home.

“We hope to return to the new Camp Nou in November. We will compete until the end because as long as there is life there is hope. I want Xavi to be the coach at the New Camp Nou.”

Xavi may have to continue to trust in the club’s young stars next season, with big signings looking unlikely as things stand due to Barca’s ongoing financial issues.
