"I'M GOING TO CALL IT NOW": DENNY HAMLIN MAKES BOLD DOVER PREDICTION

Denny Hamlin recently made a bold prediction regarding who will win the upcoming NASCAR Cup race at Dover. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver, who has already won twice this year, took the mic on his podcast and proclaimed the name of the driver who he thinks would take the checkered flag this Sunday.

As per Hamlin, the driver who will win at Dover is the driver of the #11 car, or in other words, himself. Speaking on Actions Detrimental, he said:

"We'll check in with you after Dover, after we win Dover. I'm going to call it now. We're going to win Dover".

So far this year, Hamlin has collected the checkered flags at Bristol and Richmond, and he's eyeing the third at Dover. It's worth mentioning that during his illustrious career, Hamlin has only won once at Dover, in 2020.

Apart from that, he has seven finishes inside the top five and nine finishes inside the top 10 on that track. However, ever since his win in August 2020, Hamlin has had a run of inconsistent results there. He finished in fifth place in 2023, 21st in 2022, seventh in 2021, and 19th in 2020 at Dover.

So it'll be interesting to see if it is the #11 driver who finishes in the victory lane in the upcoming Cup race.

Denny Hamlin doesn't want to be defined by the one thing he lacks in NASCAR

In all his years in the top flight of NASCAR, Denny Hamlin has tasted success at most of the racetracks he's run a race on. However, despite all of his wins and records, the one thing that has always eluded Hamlin is the Cup title.

Not winning a championship is something Hamlin simply deemed "bad luck."

But despite that space in his trophy cabinet, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver doesn't want to be defined by what he hasn't won. Instead, he wants to be defined by all that he has won. As per NASCAR, earlier this year, Hamlin said:

"Do I want to win a championship? A thousand percent. But it's not going to define my career. My career is defined by how many trophies do I have right here in this house? Right now, there's 50 of them".

Since Hamlin made those comments, he has won a few more races than 50. Currently, he has 53 wins to his name in the Cup Series.

But could he make it 54 at Dover this Sunday?

Time will tell.
